14 Oct. 2015 – Ali KIDAMI, Imad LADKANI, Hala ATALLAH and Moustafa AHMAD made Lebanese history by raising the Lebanese flag high in one of the wonders of the world: the Grand Canyon! The four Lebanese crossed 273km in this deserted area of the world carrying a bag of 10kg on their backs in a race entitle “Grand to Grand Ultra”.
The race held in Arizona was 6 days long. They crossed on the third day 83km! 127 runners took part in this great challenge; 28 withdrew due to the difficult and extreme conditions! Our four Lebanese didn’t surrender; Ali KIDAMI came in the 20th position and Imad LADKANI finished 21st overall! They both came 6th in their age group category!
Hala and Moustafa completed the race which is a great achievement in itself! The Ultra Marathons are always a great challenge; physically and mentally, to be able to achieve it is just amazing!
Ali participated previously this year in the Pack and Track International that was held In Australia, is running for his own daughter!
“I am running for my daughter, to give her hope in this life. I always run for her and I want to with her at least once in the desert! She is suffering from epilepsy which caused her hemiplegia in the right side of her body. We didn’t have hope back then that she could even walk, but now, due to all the experiences, she is capable of running a 5km!” Said Ali KIDAMI.
We are proud of our Lebanese runners who are taking this kind of challenges and are raising the Lebanese flag high in different places in the world!
