21 Oct. 2015- Giovanni SAMAHA impressed at the ITA Regional Championships after reaching the singles semifinals! SAMAHA won 4 matches before losing the semis, he defeated a ranked player in the quarterfinals Tulane’s Constantin SCHMITZ 3-6, 7-6 (5) and 6-1 but unfortunately lost to Max HINNISDAELS 7-5 and 6-3.
“Great week of tennis comes to an end in the semi finals of ITA regional championship. Finally back healthy and able to work hard towards my goals. I had my chances today but could not take them and did silly mistakes on big points that costs me the match. I will learn from that and already looking forward to the futures in 2 weeks on clay!” – SAMAHA posted on his personal Facebook profile after the game.
Giovanni’s performance impressed his coach Gregory Scott KIDD who said: “I couldn’t be more proud of Giovani for what he accomplished at the ITA Regionals this weekend”, Scott added: “Doing what no other Trojan has done is a huge milestone for the program. When you think about all the great programs represented this weekend, not to mention the high level players competing here at this event, Giovani proved that he is among the best as well as showing future hope for Troy men’s tennis. My hat goes off to him.”
