17 Nov. 2015 – Beirut Football Academy is the first football academy in Lebanon, it was founded 11 years ago and participated in about thirty international competitions so far! Five months ago they played against FC Barcelona! Three years ago, they won the Class B Gothia Cup, which is the largest youth tournament in the world (Boys born in 2000)!
The Academy consists of preparing the young talents to be part of the National team when they become adults. This system is very important in all kind of sports to prepare a new generation of great players who will be representing Lebanon in international tournaments.
Winning team against Tripoli
The BFA is participating this year with two teams: one constituted of players born on 2001 and 2002 representing Chabibe Al Mazraa Club and the second one with players born n 1998 and 1997, but the majority of them are younger; born on 2000 and are preparing for the upcoming championship for their age category, and representing Sagesse.
Last year they reached the finals and lost against Ansar, but it was a great achievement for the team! The team is headed by the former captain of the Racing Club, Ziad SAADE.
Four BFA players born on 2001 were part of the National team: Jean YAMAZIAN, Ralph HADCHITI, Fred KASSATLY and Hussein NAHLE.
At the Lebanese Age Group Championship, BFA; playing under Sagesse Club, lost 1-0 against racing club this weekend after missing one penalty. The younger BFA team, who was playing for Chabibe Al Mazraa Club, won against Tripoli 2-1! Joe ABOU RIZK and Ralph HABCHY were the two scorers of the team.
The BFA forms elite football players like Fouad KHOURY, Elie BARADHI, Iyad CHAHINE, Marc MEHANNA and Jean Pierre SAOUD who will be playing for Sagesse in the first division. We should also highlight the names of the following players who are also excelling on the field of play: Marc EL HAJJ, Lorenz BOUSTANI and Youssef KHATTAR.
We should note that the 1997-1998 team is coached by Kivork GARBEDIAN, and the 2001-2002 team by Roy ABI ELIAS, who have a big role to play in order to find the talents and help them improve throughout the years.
