12 Jan. 2016 – The Beirut Marathon Association is pursuing their preparations for the second edition of Bank Med Youth Race that will be held in Dbaye on the 10th of April 2016.
The Association held a meeting with the municipality of Dbaye in preparation for the race. The president of the municipality Kabalan AL ACHKAR and his vice president Abdou AL ZAINI as well as Corine AL ACHKAR attended the meeting, and from the BMA part, May EL KHALIL, the president of the association and the vice president General Hassan ROUSTOM and other BMA members took part in this meeting.
2015 Youth Race – CIS students’ experience
During the meeting, they first started by analysing the first edition of the youth race that was held in 2015, from the technical and organisational aspects. Kabalan AL ACHKAR thanked the association for their efforts and expressed his joy seeing his town, Dbaye, full of peace runners coming from everywhere in Lebanon united in once place for one reason: Running for peace.

On the other side, May EL KHALIL thanked the municipality for their trust in the association and she added that this great relationship between the municipality and the association contributed in the success of the race, which is a really important opportunity to discover young talents.
We should note that most the winners of the youth race are already champions in athletics, but every year we find a new rising talent that never shows up at the athletics competitions and who shows up only at the Beirut Marathon Association events which are mediatised and can reach the public easier and faster than the athletics federation’s events.
We would like to take this opportunity to call the coaches and the clubs for action; to not only focus on the athletes they have but to detect the rising talents and take them to their clubs and train them in order to develop their talent.
Finally, there was a small chance in the schedule of this edition; the running events will only be 3km and 5km for all the categories starting 7 years olf to 17! We should mention that the results of last year weren’t very accurate. This new changing may facilitate the process.
