17 Jan. 2016 – College Notre Dame de Jamhour organized its annual inter-scholar Cross Country championship on January 16, bringing everyone together from the four corners of Lebanon. A record of 480 participants took part in this Cross Country competition.
This scholar championship only includes the Kids category (10-11), Bantam (12-13), Midgets (14-15) and Youth (16-17). Jamhour athletes were able to win 6 team first place trophies while Maristes Champville and Kadmous Tyr won one team trophy each.
We should note the presence of Pere Charbel PATOR the director of College Notre Dame de Jamhour who distributed the awards for the winners. We should also note that the first 6 finishers received medals.

In the Kids category, the distance of the cross country was 1000m. Amanda YOUNAN (Champville) came first in 4:08, she was followed by Mira CHALHOUB (Amliya Tyr) won finished second in 4:09, only one second after Amanda. Julie Anne KIWAN (NDJ) finished thirs in 4:16.
In this kids category, Champville team was ranked first with 24points, Jamhour (NDJ) was second with 44 points and Amliya Tyr was third with 47 points.
In the kids’ boys category, Salim KACHOUH (NDJ) completed the 1400m in 5:30, three seconds behind him came his teammate, Liam ABI CHAKER, in second place while Jaques SAMOURI (Champville) finished in third position in 5:34! A very close finish for the young athletes!
In the team’s ranking, NDJ were first with 34 points, Amliya Tyr were second with 37 oints and Champville finished in third place with 56 points.
In the Bantam girls category, Farah TAYYAR (NDJ), the amazing rising talent ran the 1400m in 5:04 leaving everyone behind. Maria ABOU JOUADE (Louisvegman) finished second in 5:33 while Michele BOU EID (NDJ) finished third in 5:36!
Jamhour team was able to collect 22 points to lead the ranking, Louisvegman were second in 31 points and Amliya were third in 81 points.
In the bantam boys, Hussein SOULI (Amliya) finished first in 7:28, Kevin AOUN (NDJ) was second in 7:41 and Tony LOTFI (NDJ) was third in 7:45.
In the teams ranking, NDJ were first with 47 points, Louaize came in second place with 67 points and finally Louisvegman finished in third position with 74 points.
In the Midgets girls, Yasmina ALLOUCH (Louisvegman) crossed the 1800 meters in 8:34 to win her category. After her comes Elizabeth YAZBECK from NDJ with 8:37 and in third place comes Tara AL KHAZEN (NDJ) with 8:48.
NDJ collected 22 points to win the team cup, Louisevegman finished in second place with 39 points and Amaliya Tyr were third with 82 points.
The midget boys had to run 2400 meters, Wajih TAYYAR (NDJ), the brother of Farah who won the Bantam category, won the race in 9:24. Endurance runs in the family since their older sister, Manal TAYYAR, is a champion in 800 and 1500 meters! Anthony FEGHALI (Sainte Famille) came in second place with 9:36 and Rudy FEGHALI (NDJ) won bronze with 9:48.
In the team’s ranking, NDJ was first with 24 points, Antnins Baabda second with 68 points and finally Louisevegman were third with 82 points.
Finally, in the youth category, Ghiya MTAYREK (Kadmous Tyr) was able to grab the gold running the 2400 meters in 9:52, Yasmina FAKHRY (NDJ) came in second place in 10:09 and Nour AL ACHKAR came in third with 10:19.
NDJ who won individually the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth position obviously won the team cup with 9 points! Kadmous Tyr finished second in 23 points and Louaize finished 3rd place with 26 points.
Last but not least, Mountaser HAMIYE (Kadmous Tyr) was victorious in the Youth boys category crossing the 3200m in 12:13. Peter KHOURY (Champville) came in second place in 13:19 while Ahmad MOHSEN (Kadmous Tyr) finished third in 13:30.
Kadmoud Tyr were able to win their first team’s cup with 17 points, while NDJ finished in second place with 21 points and Champville ended in third position with 33 points.
Finally, it was a very successful cross country with the efforts of Alice KEYROUZ who played both roles of organizer and coach at this championship. The next cross country will be the Lebanese Championship on Valentine’s day, February 14th, in Jamhour.
