08 Aug. 2015 – Twelve years ago, Lebanon noticed the fastest junior athlete on 100 and 200 meters: Mohamad SIRAJ TAMIM who still holds the Youth and Seniors 100 meters records. After twelve years, he saw his 200 meters juniors record taken away by a very strong Junior: Mahmoud DAOU (CSJ).

The great Mohamad TAMIM went down to the podium to give himself the medal to Mahmoud, a great gesture by the fastest ever man in Lebanon to the new arising star. TAMIM’s record was 22.02 seconds, Mahmoud ran the 200 meters in 21.98 seconds to take second place after Nour HADID (Army) with 21.77 and ahead of Ramzi NAIM (Champions) with 22.47.

Some athletes are arising, others are veterans and still compete for their club. Carine BITCHAKJIAN (Champville) who is the record holder in High Jump with 1.72m, is now a coach in the Champville club. But her motivation to support the team pushed her to compete in this Championship and jump an amazing 1.57m!

And others try new disciplines! Manal TAYYAR (CSJ) who excelled on the middle distance runs: the 800 and 1500 meters, decided to go for the Steeplechase to support her team! Manal did great clocking 13:55.41! In second place Diana FAKHRAN from Ansar with 14.46.11 and in third Joy Lynne KORTBAWI (Champville) with 15.58.02.

But the one who really proved how strong she can be when the team matters is Chloe KARAM (Champville). After breaking the 5000m Midget record on Day 1, she competed in the steeplechase for her second time, but this time she fell over a hurdle and injured her arm, but she decided not to give up and continued the race to cross the finish line in fourth position!

Finally, Nadia DAGHER who came from Germany to compete for the Champions, broke the 1500 meters national record clocking 4:37.43! Behind her, the youth record holder Sara Joe KORTBAWI (Champville), came second with 4:49.94.

Today will be the last day of competition, the most exciting one, hoping that the athletes will achieve great performances like they did in the first and second day!

Good luck and congratulation for the winners!
