09 Aug. 2015 – The Lebanese Open Clubs Championship has finally come to an end, the athletics season of 2015 also ended with this championship except for the Army athletes who still have the World Army Championship.

Words will never describe the emotions on this particular day, winning or losing, it was an amazing experience on a national level. It is so impressive how the human body can go beyond its limits and be affected by the heart and mind, through love and the strong will and determination.

In the men’s, the Lebanese Army team won the championship again and again! They proved one more time their supremacy! They’ve collected 198.84 points. In second place comes the Champions with 78.17 points and in third place Jamhour with 63.82 points. Both teams fought really hard but the Lebanese Army are always on another planet!

In the women’s, it was Melanie FREIHA’s championship, no matter who would have win, the trophy belongs to her! CSJ won the championship for the third consecutive time and collected 151.85 points. Champville came in second place with 138.84 points and the Champions came in third with 42.39 points!

Now let’s focus more on the athletes’ achievments. Patrick HANNA (Blue Stars) came from Canada to participate in this championship. He did Long jump on the second day and was placed second, but on the last day he did his favorite event: the Triple Jump, and jumped 14.89m to take first place. Fouad YOUNAN (Army) is still competing as a veteran and jumped 12.84m to take second place. Mazen CHRIH from Ansar took third place with 12.79.

The most waited race on that day was the 400 meters men. Unfortunately, the times were taken manually!! Something that should not happen in such championships! Thomas SEMAAN (CSJ) delivered the race of his life winning in 49.0, in Second place Ramzi NAIM (Champions) sprinted in the last 50m to overcome Hassan MANSOUR (Army), Ahmad MOHSEN (Army) and Charles KARAM (Champville) to come in third place with 49.8 seconds.

Finally the most exciting of all races are the relays with the 4×400 meters! In the men’s, the Lebanese Army preferred to put all their great athletes in the 4x400m instead of the 4x100m, and won in 3:22.05, the Champions came in second with 3:25.55 and CSJ in third position with 3:32.44.

In the women’s Champville team with Zoe DAGHER, Lory TASHJIAN, Krystel SANEH and Sara Joe KORTBAWI won the relay after a great effort from Lory who could not only get closer to the Jamhour athlete but overcome her oppenent and give her team an advantage. But the CSJ did a really good job with Manal TAYAR on the start who gave the lead for her team, Karen FEGHALI in second position, Maysa MOUAWAD who did an amazing run and finally Corine FREIHA who fought hard on the last leg!

The energy that this championship provides is unmeasurable. At the end of it, Corine FREIHA, in the name of all the CSJ athletes “here, and those who are in heaven”, thanked her coach Alice KEYROUZ with a very emotional speech written by her teammate Joy ABOUSLEIMAN!
