12 May 2016 – On the occasion of World Environment Day 2016 that will be on Sunday, June 5 and Under the title of “#The ReforestationRun” Ali WEHBI, “Extreme Runner, Adventurer, ” will be running through 100 Lebanese villages in a total of 10 days, from the North border in Akkar to the South border in Bent Jbail for more then 500km in order to promote the benefits of sports and endurance to the youth and to reduce global warming by planting 5000 trees.
“According to the environmental protection agencies, planting trees is a must if we want to save our planet. Trees not only remove harmful chemicals from the soil, but also help reduce the harmful effects of global warming”.
At the end of each stage, WEHBI will be planting and offering trees to the village he’s in, where he will be talking about the advantages of sports to the welfare of our community and to the future of the young generation as well as the importance of planting trees for the environment.
“Trees are not only there for cleaning the air, soil, and stopping tsunamis. They also help us by providing shade and food.”
WEHBI will be accompanied by school students who will run and plant trees as part of their community services work and environmental clubs.
Ali WEHBI, “The Lebanese Extreme runner, Adventurer” has a fantastic record of extreme running. His passion for running took him to the four corners of the globe. He is the first Arab ever to take on such an ambitious challenge and to participate in an elusive achievement in the four deserts.
By achieving this physical and spiritual journey unto self discovery, this outstanding man entered the circle of the 4 Deserts Club. He is the first Arab to ever participate in the 7 Continents Race, an extreme race, that consists of more than 100 kms in each continent.
– In January 9, 2012, Ali was Awarded by Lebanese President, Michel Suleiman, The National Order of the Cedar, Knight Grade.
– In 2007, he received the medal of “Lebanese Order of Merit” from the Lebanese President, Emile Lahoud.
– In April 2013, Ali Wehbe planted the flag of the Red Cross emblem in the North Pole. The flag was a gift from the Lebanese Red Cross to the ICRC, for its 150th anniversary.
