Lebanon overcome Japan to remain undefeated in FIBA Asia U18

26 Jul. 2016- Lebanese U18 Basketball national team remains undefeated in the 2016 U18 FIBA Asia after securing the 4th consecutive win over Japan today. Lebanon is leading group B with 1 important game left against Iran.

In the first quarter, Japan struggled with the strong defensive performance of our players. Y. Nishida scored almost all of his team points in these 10 minutes (7 points out of 9 points scored). On the other hand, our players were showing a great team work increasing the gap, 1st quarter score: Lebanon 18-9 Japan.

In the second half, our players increased the gap to 15 points (Lebanon 33-18 Japan), taking advantage of Japan’s 2 points low scoring percentage (total of 12.5% with 39.29% to our national team). Here’s a comparison between the 2 teams at halftime:

Japan performed better in the 3rd quarter, where they managed to reduce the gap to 8 points! End of Q3: Lebanon 50-42 Japan. Lebanon dominated Japan at the start of the 4th quarter with a 6-0 run in the first 4 minutes, a strong defensive performance left Japan with only 5 points in 6 minutes (11 points for Lebanon). Japanese players struggled in the 4th quarter and Lebanon finished the game with an easy win 73-51.
