03 Dec. 2016 – Mouttahed welcomed Byblos today in both team’s first game of the Lebanese Basketball League. The teams went head to head in a game that ended 83-78.
In fact, in this much anticipated game, Byblos were able to grab the win with the score of 83-78. However it was not a walk in the park for the club as their opponents did not hand them an easy win.
The first quarter ended in favor of Byblos with only 6 points of difference (19-13). The second quarter saw them widen the gap as they were able to end the first half 37-23. Byblos came into the 3rd quarter with a more or less comfortable lead. Nevertheless, they forgot that Mouttahed were not so easily defeated. As a matter of fact, the Tripoli team was not going to grant them the win this without a hitch. They started reducing the gap and ended the 3rd quarter 49-55.
With only 6 points of difference, Byblos could not rest on their laurels. Both teams wanted to open their campaign with a win, and although Byblos were one step closer, Mouttahed had not yet said their last word. Mouttahed succeeded at closing the gap, equalizing their opponents on several occasions. The 4th quarter saw a hard fought battle as Mouttahed were on their opponents’ tails. With 40 seconds left on the clock, Byblos were up by 3. However Ramel Curry had other plans for his team. He shot, he scored making the score 69 all.
With his 3 pointer, Ramel Curry imposed an overtime and Spencer was on fire as he opened it with a 3 point shot, putting his team in the lead. And despite delivering a great performance, Mouttahed were unable to clinch the win.
With Byblos grabbing the away win, Mouttahed lost 3 precious points on their home court. However both teams showed that they were not easily defeated. What a promising season is it going to be!
